Augusta International Raceway

Hephzibah, Georgia  ·  1962–1969 in Grand National

Fireball Roberts designed a racetrack in Hephzibah, Georgia, then won the last race of his life on it. The Augusta 510 ran twenty-one turns through pine woods and spring-fed lakes in November 1963, and Roberts was dead the following summer of burns he took at Charlotte. Augusta International is a county park now and almost nobody walking it knows.
