Hamburg Speedway

Hamburg, New York  ·  Two Cup races, 1949–1950

Hamburg Speedway was a half-mile dirt oval on the grounds of what is now the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg, New York. NASCAR's top series ran there twice. Jack White won in a Lincoln on Sept. 18, 1949, and Dick Linder won in an Oldsmobile on Aug. 27, 1950. Racing at the track ran until 1997, and the fairgrounds now host the county fair and a gaming hall.

Note: Two Grand National races, 1949 (Jack White) and 1950 (Dick Linder), agree on Wikipedia and Racing-Reference (dates read from Racing-Reference race IDs). The 1946-1997 racing span is Wikipedia only (it cites The Third Turn, which could not be fetched). No source states why racing ended or what became of the oval itself, so no closure reason is given..
